A Study of Improvement Effect of Assistive Technology Service for Activating Employment of Workers with Disabilities

Abstract
Assistive technologies help a person with a disability to carry out job functions by reducing, relieving, or eliminating the status of the persons with disabilities through assistive technologies in order for the persons with disabilities who were impossible to rehabilitate job functions at all in the past to receive the protection of humane lives in social integrated environment. These assistive technologies had started to attract attention from 1990s in Korea and in 2000s, it is provided as a part of activation of the employment of workers with disabilities but it is still insufficient in systematic support.
People with disability was not easy to find a job in US where there was prejudice of the employers, a lack of expert knowledge and training, and insufficiency of economic feasibility. However, the most important reason was not enough assistive technology devices which helps accomplishing their duties. Therefore, if there is a opportunity where people with disability could use appropriate assistive technology devices, the rate of hiring people with disability would be significantly increased. At last, assistive technology service is an essential factor that helps people with disability to perform their duty in the stage of vocational rehabilitation.
For this reason, in this research, we have suggested a study of improvement effects of assistive technologies service to facilitate social participation and the employment of workers with disabilities.
